Memorising the Qur'an is one of the greatest goals a student can set. For many families, an online Hifz program makes that goal realistic — the child memorises at home, on a schedule that fits school and family life, under the guidance of a dedicated tutor.
Who is an online Hifz program for?
Students who can already read the Qur'an fluently with correct pronunciation are ready to begin Hifz. If a child is still building reading fluency, it's usually best to complete Nazra first, so memorisation is built on accurate recitation.
The Sabaq, Sabqi and Manzil method
Most Hifz teachers follow a three-part daily structure:
- Sabaq — the new lesson memorised that day.
- Sabqi — revision of the most recent portions, usually the last several days' lessons.
- Manzil — revision of older memorised portions, rotated so nothing already learned is lost.
Revision is what makes Hifz last. A strong program spends as much attention on Sabqi and Manzil as on the new lesson.
How long is a Hifz class, and how many classes are needed?
At Quran Plus School every Hifz class is 60 minutes. That hour gives enough time for all three parts — listening to the new lesson, checking the recent revision and testing a portion of the Manzil. Because memorisation depends on daily repetition, most Hifz students take a class five to seven days a week.
How long does it take to memorise the whole Qur'an online?
It depends mainly on the student's age, consistency and the number of classes per week. As a guide, a 10–14-year-old with 60-minute classes usually completes Hifz in:
- 5 days a week — about 2.5–4 years ($60/month)
- 6 days a week — about 2–3 years ($70/month)
- 7 days a week — about 2–3 years ($80/month)
Younger children (7–9) usually need a little longer, while motivated teenagers and adults can move faster. See all the Hifz monthly fees.
How parents can help at home
- Set a fixed daily time for memorising — early morning after Fajr works well for many children.
- Encourage your child to recite their new lesson aloud to you before class.
- Keep a simple progress chart and celebrate each Juz completed.
- Stay in regular contact with the tutor about pace and revision.
