Online Qur'an classes for adults & beginners
It is never too late to learn. Start from the very first letter or polish your recitation with Tajweed — one-to-one with a qualified teacher, in private, at your own pace and at any hour that suits you.
Wherever you are now, there is a next step
In the free trial class your teacher listens to you read and starts exactly where you are — no test to pass and no one else in the class.
I can’t read Arabic yet
Begin with the Noorani Qaida: the Arabic letters, their correct sounds (makharij) and joining them into words. Practise between classes in the free Digital Qaida, with audio for every lesson.
I learned as a child but have forgotten
A quick revision of the Qaida, then straight on to reading the Qur’an itself (Nazra) — your teacher corrects each mistake as you read.
I can read, but want correct Tajweed
Learn the rules of Tajweed — makhraj, sifaat, noon and meem sakinah, madd — and apply them as you recite. The complete Tajweed course is usually finished in 4–8 months.
I want to memorise the Qur’an
Hifz classes are 60 minutes, with new lesson (sabaq), recent revision (sabqi) and older revision (manzil), at a pace that fits work and family. See online Hifz classes.
I am new to Islam
Start from the very first letter with a patient teacher who explains everything in English. Our free step-by-step guides to how to pray and how to make wudu help alongside your classes.
I want to understand Arabic
Arabic language classes — spoken and written — help you understand the Qur’an you recite.

Questions adults often ask
Am I too old to learn to read the Qur’an?
No. Teens, adults and new Muslims are all welcome, and many people start from the very first letter. One-to-one classes go at your own pace, with no one else in the class.
I can’t read Arabic at all — where do I start?
With the Noorani Qaida, which teaches the letters and how to join them. If you are unsure of your level, take the free two-minute Qur’an level test or simply book a free trial class.
How long does it take an adult to learn to read the Qur’an?
It depends on your starting point and how many classes you take each week. As a guide, a young child takes about 5–7 months to finish the Noorani Qaida at five classes a week; adults often move faster because they can practise and focus for longer. Your teacher gives you a realistic plan after the free trial class.
Can women learn with a female teacher?
Yes. Women can learn with a female teacher, including hafizah teachers, and a female member of staff can answer your messages on request.
How much do adult classes cost?
The same as for children: on the current offer a 30-minute class costs $5, so 2 classes a week are $10 a month and 5 a week $25. Hifz classes are 60 minutes, from $30 a month.
Will the teacher explain in English?
Yes. Both our male and female teachers speak English well, so every rule can be explained in English. Urdu is also available.
What times can I choose?
Any time, any day. Classes run 24/7 in your own time zone, from 2 to 7 days a week, at a fixed weekly time you choose.
Which app are classes on — Zoom, WhatsApp, Skype or Google Meet?
Classes are live one-to-one video calls with the teacher. We mainly teach on Zoom, and classes can also be held on a WhatsApp video call, Skype or Google Meet — whichever is easiest for you. We set up the call with you on WhatsApp before the free trial class.
Is the first class free?
Yes. Your first class is a free trial with no card needed, so you can meet the teacher before choosing a plan.
